Hey all.
Just got done watching the new episode of Tekzilla. Patrick had a lot to say about the recent events surrounding Monster cables cease and desist of Blue Jeans cables (a mom-n-pop USA manufacturer).
I have a much more complete write up of the situation over on my blog (sorry for the blog spam) with the Tekzilla episode embedded.

Support Tekzilla and Blue Jeans Cables - BOYCOTT Monster Cables

Check it out if you have a sec.
If you're anything like me, you probably help your family and friends make decisions on A/V equipment. If you haven't already, lets stop using over priced BestBuy fodder, and lets start making more cost effective cable choices.

I appreciate your consideration.

Guy

Thank you so very much for this post. I have held the opinion for sometime that Monster has nothing of substantial value to sell.

I base my feelings on the following learning;
1) I learned to make cables the right way in US Naval Electronics School.
2) I learned a lot of electronic theory in US Navel Electronic School.
3) I learned to tell Sh*t from ShinOla a long time ago. (This is the most valuable bit of learning and partly attributable to the Navy)
4) I have never been let down by Canare Cable and I know lot of folks who have never been let down by Mogami. ( I worked as a Broadcast Engineer and as a Location Mixer for film and video)

I have not needed to buy a ready made cable, but I do for conveyance. I have never bought or bought into Monsters claims or product. I will give full consideration to a new pair of Blue Jeanes.

I hope this helps others understand that hype appears to be the best product that Monster sells.

Ed

PS Its hard to boycott what you have never bought and would never buy, but count me in.

As Tom Andry of Audioholics says:

Little did the lawyer drones over at Monster know that Kurt Denke, the president of Blue Jeans was, in a former life, a lawyer by trade. Oops! Someone pushed around the wrong "small" company!

Just say "nyet" to Munster Cabal.

These dudes supposedly went after Monster.com and The Boston Red Sox (for the Green Monster) as well in the name of protecting their identity.

How about not ripping off customers if you care so much about ethics?

I kinda knew you guys would be up on this!

Hey Ed, I'm such a digital kid (I've only cut tape once my whole career for example), that I'm only just now getting into some of the finer analog details after 10 years of recording. Making my own cables is next up on the list!

I'm just really tired of watching newbies getting hosed.
I had to fight with my grandfather recently in a Radioshack because the saleswoman helping him kept saying that she "could totally like see the difference between like Monster HDMI cables and like other HDMI cables". We actually almost started yelling at each other because he wanted "the best", and I refused to let him pay almost $80 for a six foot cable.

Absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed reading Kurt's letter very much!

I've never bought anything from Monster...and now, never will. Blue Jean is the way to go!

Hey guys. Thanks for all the positive words.
My pal Brandon Drury, who runs the Recording Review, is joining in on boycotting Monster over it's litigious business practices also.

You can check it out here:
I Will Never Buy Another Monster Cable
