EBAY!!!!
I know that some people are leary of getting burned, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with e-bay products. Almost all of my gear originated from e-bay, if not through a direct sale, then by contacting e-bay stores directly and making a direct purchase.
It takes some patience, and you really need to know what you're looking for, but I've quite literally saved thousands of dollars on gear and other miscellaneous items! (Yes I said thousands!).
Do your product research, browse the sales categories often, make sure you're dealing with sellers with good feedback scores and in my opinion... you're off to the races!
Good luck Bud! _________________ Brian Forrester Voice Overs

Broadcast Supply, USA.
It's been all good for me with them.

I got most of the stuff I own from guys I know.
People I've met and local stores. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Oh yeah!!!
DB just hit the nail on the head, and it didn't even come to mind until I read her post!
There's a pretty darn good chance that between the folks on this board and other's that you know in the business, you could build a pretty sweet setup. We're all guilty of moth-balling un-used gear, but not selling it because... "well, one day I might need it honey!"
I'd suggest maybe posting a generic wish list (condensor mic, mixer, mic stand, and so on) and see what people may be willing to part with... then do some research on the items that strike your fancy, research their re-sale price and make reasonable offers to the current owners.
A call to all!!! Ask your significant others what gear they want you to part with (they're impartial and don't have sentimental attachments like we do) , then without thinking about it... post their availablity here. You never know, by selling your old stuff, you may be able to buy that new mic you've been drooling over for the past 6-months!
I'd offer up some of my old gear, but I've just managed to sell the last piece... well, except for the few items that I managed to hide from the little lady on her last cleaning blitz!

Yup! Fully agreed.
If it's new, off-the-shelf gear you're seeking, BSW is the place. In fact, here's a little tip. Don't buy straight off their internet site. Instead, call. That way you can negotiate an even better deal. I did and saved about $300 on a $800 order. Pretty good, huh?
Let them know you're a professional, then ask for the best deal.
If you'd like, when you call, ask for Shannon and tell her Doc in Tucson sent you. No, I don't get any kickback and maybe she won't even remember me... but, if she does???
She was terrific and made the deal absolutely painless.
Best of luck! |

The owners of the first two links are real characters, if you talk to them, be prepared to "hear" anything.
