if it had to be one word:
credited

in context:
... your money needs during the years the indices decreased as well as credited interest in the years when the indices increased.

coming in second:
index-linked interest-crediting strategies

I'll bet "credited" alone would have been fine. But tack on "interest" and I can see where it could become an issue.

the best "cannot say"s are those that happen to someone else, though they still elicit a cringe of sympathy.

a talent using my studio for an ISDN hookup today was saddled with the unchangeable phrase, "versus the Detroit Redwings". nine out of ten takes came out like elmer fudd was doing it.

try it yourself. i'm glad i didn't have to.

"Our renewable, earth friendly energy" was my challenge yesterday. Seems as if everyone in the room but me could say it. Finally got it. Had to. No say, no pay.

One of my personal favorites (since I didn't have to narrate it) was in a documentary I wrote about the outer planets. The sentence was about the Great Red spot on Jupiter:

"A giant, red whirling windstorm rages within the lower cloud belts."

Bless his soul, the narrator got through it quite elegantly.

Another one, heard in the studio where DH used to work:

"... fish, flash frozen and fresh from the fishin' fleets... "

(what WAS the copywriter thinking?)

Alliteration, most likely!

For me? "...dedicated team of professionals." Specifically "...of professionals."

Try it. It's not as easy as it looks. Especially if the :30 spot is overwritten by about 8 seconds.

Before I do a bit of recording, I like to run through a few phrases. And, I don't let myself start working till I can get through them perfectly...then I consider myself warmed up!

Here's one:

The seething sea ceaseth, and as the seething sea subsideth many men must munch much mush.

Rolls Eyes
