I'm looking into hotels in LA and am getting a bit scared of the reviews that mention bugs in the room. Since this wasn't a planned and budgeted trip (thank you Pat Fraley) I am trying to keep the costs in line. Of course I want a 4 star for the price of a 2 1/2 but have never used this service. Anybody have any insight? Thanks! _________________ Pam Tierney

Can you afford the Saharan?
Or perhaps the Beverly Laurel?
Priceline is helpful because you get the really awesome deals, but you have to be WICKED sure you ask for a non-smoking room.
With Priceline, you get the not-near-the-pool, no-view room.
Who cares? _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Exactly!
I'll look into those two places. And check out the no-smoking thing on Priceline. Thanks! _________________ Pam Tierney

Pam,
I've used Priceline for hotels numerous times. Including in LA for a Pat Fraley weekend seminar. Non-smoking is very important. Typically I start with a ludicrously low price and see what happens. It may take a couple of days, but I've found some truly amazing deals working that way. _________________ Be well,

i used priceline for some crazy airplane trip years ago, which was rerouted or cancelled or something. when i got a new flight, i asked at the desk about meals (mmmm ... food) and was told: that's a priceline ticket? you don't get any food.
i realize this helps you not one bit, pam. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

I tend to book directly with the airlines (using their websites or calling them). TOO many bad experiences with Orbitz...
About those bugs in the rooms -- in december we stayed at a Hilton in the LA area and one of our party ended up with more than 50 bedbug bites.
When you get to the room, check the mattress -- if it's dusty or dirty, ask for a new room. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Connie-
You are so sweet to offer! I'll be bringing my 9 cats, I sleep walk and I'll need you to feng shui your house before I arrive. I will require my own en-suite bedroom and I must have absolute silence and darkness after 8pm. Did I mention I'm lactose intolerant? This will be fun! I'll let you know my travel arrangements and when you can pick me up at the airport.
Swami Bob Souer, he who knows all and sees all, has instructed me on the vagaries of Priceline. I'm going to give it a whirl. Cross your fingers I am successful! _________________ Pam Tierney

Pam, Priceline has been used around here and always comes out on top. It's a good bet.

Yes, I need a dose of sunshine after this winter. Which reminds me, I'd better tell Pat I'm coming! _________________ Pam Tierney

Hope you love it. Pat is just so wonderful as a teacher. As a matter of fact we just booked some rental cars for summer when we head back to Milwaukee for a couple weeks. Great deals. _________________ Bobbin Beam
