I don't always remember to enter checks in my spreadsheets when I receive them. But I always always always scan the check before depositing it.
I was just going through my books and saw that I didn't note on my spreadsheets that checks had been received from a certain client for the last two gigs I did for him. But lo, I had scanned the checks, as I always always always do, so not only did I know he had paid me, but I knew when I received the payment (the date the jpg of the check was created) which is especially important at the end of the year.
Was so tickled that I hadn't been stupid that I wanted to pass along that little housekeeping tip, which may (or may not) work for others. |

Mary,
Many of my checks come with pay-out stubs. If they do, I don't bother scanning the check itself; but when they don't I do the same thing. Very smart idea. _________________ Be well,

Thanks for the tip, Mary. Hadn't thought of that, but it is something I'll definitely be doing from now on! _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
