Anyone else viewing films for the voting?

We just looked at No Country for Old Men.

Dang. I'd love to hear what others thought of it.

Yes I'm viewing the films I was sent. It's like belated Christmas gifts. Watched AWAY FROM HER, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, INTO THE WILD, 3:10 TO YUMA. Still need to watch HAIRPSRAY.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN was the film I liked the least. Some nice acting but it didn't grab me the way the other films did.

I think 3:10 to Yuma will be next for us.

I'm so anxious to see Into The Wild. Of course, I'll have to wait until we can go to the theatre.... Frown I loved the book!

Hairspray was so much fun. It took a while for me to cotton to Travolta as the mom, but he did grow on me. The singing was INCREDIBLE!

The extras in that DVD were fabulous - lots of behind the scenes stuff on the singing and the dancing - the costumes, etc.

We loaned out No Country for Old Men. Into the Wild is next - and haven't seen the others yet.

Yo, Dierdre, if you're really interested in a discussion and review about No Country for Old Men, may I suggest you visit the popular ARTS ŕ la Mode website. This is a website that is run by a very special person in my life that I hope you will find interesting, especially if you are a lover of film and theatre. Specifically, you might enjoy the webcast located on the right-hand column that includes a short discussion of the very film you cited. And, there's also many reviews of current films and those of the past year. Here's a link ----->ARTS ŕ la Mode

I've seen Juno, American Gangster, and Lars and the Real Girl. Lars was the second best movie I saw last year, right behind Once.

Brett, Thanks for that link. I watch a lot of films.

Certainly the review of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN is a good description of the film. I'd love to know what Javier Bardem used for his backstory. Since I haven't read the book the movie is based on, I'm not sure whether there is any explain about the character he plays.

I saw "I Am Legend" with Will Smith the other day. If you like being scared s**tless and jumping out of your seat a dozen times, this is your kinda movie. Yikes.

D,
3:10 to Yuma is fantastic! I still need to see the original, but the new one left me stunned.

I finally got to see No Country for Old Men on Sunday, and DAMN is it good. No clean ending; tres Coen Bros. The dialog made my head explode. Loved it.
But then, I'm partial to anything by the Coen brothers. Had to watch Miller's Crossing last night. :)

Personal trivia: I've crossed the same bridge on foot into Mexico from Del Rio (where my sister lives). :)

It was a much anticipated girls night out tonight- dinner and a movie.

Dinner reservations ran late, so we ate our appetizers at a feverish pace and skipped dinner. Off to the movie- it was my pick.

No Country For Old Men

We chose the Ballantyne theatre (in place of soda and popcorn- they serve wine and cheesecake) and opted for reserved seating. Tremendous.

Movie commences. I sit through the whole thing with a giant grin on my face. At the end- my friends look at me with disdain.

I unknowingly declare, "Best movie I've seen in years!!" (and I meant it!)

It is now 10:20pm on a Saturday night and the girls have moved on without me. Guess I won't be in charge of choosing the movie again. Oh well.

Think I'll be adding some of these to my Netflix list.
