So I had my outgoing SMTP mail blocked by Comcast for sending out too much mail. I had done a mail merge and sent a mailing to a whopping 100 people from my Gmail account.
After fixing the issue, the comcast rep said she doesn't recommend sending more than 25 emails at a time.
Just sharing the info in case anyone else is on comcast. _________________ Jeff

Agreed, Diane,
We have 'em for our personal email account... and I learned that rule the hard way as well. It sucks. Thanks for sharing though. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

The nnoying part is that I wasn't even using my comcast email. I was just using the broadband service to email through gmail. _________________ Jeff

| I don't have Comcast, myself, but have had trouble when I sent too many emails with the same subject line to a Comcast account - e.g., if my sister and I exchanged several emails and did't change the subject line, I got my email address temporarily blocked. This hasn't happened in a while, so maybe they've fixed that particular atrocity, but it was shocking when it happened. |

Our server's max is 30.... Reminds me of the airline business. All these precautions to stop bad people and the customers end up having to pay for it. _________________ Joe Szymanski

I guess this reinforces using a newsletter service for those bulk emails. They seem to work around all that.

I'm on Comcast and I use Group Mail, a free newsletter software package. I've been using it for over a year now with nary a problem. It also allows you to pause after sending the number of e-mails you specify. Couldn't be happier.
Here's a link: http://www.group-mail.com/asp/common/downloads.asp
The only limitation I've found with the free version is you may only send 100 e-mails at a time. If you have a very large list, the paid version allows you to send unlimited numbers of e-mails at once. |

So you were sending a single message to 100 recipients through GMail? Were you using the web-based client or something like Outlook or Thunderbird?
