Hey gang—
What is the best/funniest/most lurcative/most positive thing that happened for you in 2007?
It doesn't have to be VO related.
So many wonderful things occured this year it's hard to know where to start.
I think the niftiest thing of all this year for me was speaking at the Austin GDC with Pat Fraley.
That, and being accepted as a speaker for the San Francisco GDC for 2008!
Life is grand. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Oh... hands down, one of the best of many cool things had to be the hiking trip we took on the Big Island of Hawai'i in June.
The guy behind me is our guide, and old friend and one of the world's experts on volcanic flows.
(more pix here: http://www.lochnessproductions.com/mandc/hawaii/hawaii_page1.html).
Edited to add:
Don't know about lucrative, but two of the coolest projects I've done this year work-wise have been writing and voicing over a bunch of little 1- to 3-minute videos for an astronomy software package coming early in 2008 and beginning production of a set of vodcasts for MIT, one of which I previewed at a meeting Athens, Greece last October.
I'm all about astronomy outreach, baby... _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

The best?
The arrival of little Jiyuu Potter-Miki. The happiest baby I have ever known.

When I look back on the wonderful people I've met, the knowledge I've gained, and the fun (?) I've experienced...all else seems to pale in comparison. Thank you all for your contributions to the art (and science) and best wishes to you and yours for a spectacular new year.

Great question! It really makes ya think. 2007 has been a remarkable year, and I'm so thankful for so many things! (I'll try to narrow it down, I really will!)
I agree with Brett (with two t's!)- putting faces with voices and meeting my new VO friends at VOICE and other various meet-ups was tops!
Getting the call New Year's Day '07 that Raggs had been picked up and we had 40 episodes to record was incredible...as was seeing the live stage show and watching a simple VO come to life.
The article on CNN.com was awesome (Thanks again Moe!!!).
Filming a commercial in the middle of Bobcat's stadium was something I'll never forget (I'll be posting it here in the next few weeks- hehe!).
Reading these forums on a bad day, and having something one of you said completely crack me up...priceless!
Finally, realizing my husband was behind me in my pursuit of my dreams 100%, coming to the conclusion that I really don't suck at this gig, and being genuinely excited about 2008 are all worth their weight in GOLD!
What a year! Happy 2008!!!! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

VOICE 2007 was a biggie. Putting the faces not only with the voices, but meeting so many and hanging with the vo-bb fam, and the speakers/coaches. There had never been such a gathering, just for v/o peeps. A total delight! _________________ Bobbin Beam

Of all the people I've had the chance to meet (online or in person), the BEST of 2007 was getting to "meet" my sweetheart on the coast. We've had a marvelous year of rediscovery in our relationship this year.
My best friend.

Highlights of the year- VOICE 2007 (see below)- mostly because I got to hang out with all y'all... It's blown me away what a very cool place we have here, and how many of you I count as friends. -
It's also been a year in which I've been continually blown away by my daughter's resilience and strength in dealing with whatever it is she has.
Happy New Year y'all! _________________ Moe Egan

Best of 2007 for me would include:
- business growing (slowly, but in the right direction)
- no major life-changing events (which was welcome)
- healthy kids
- some good prospects for the coming year _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
Well, that and mimes.

I am proud of the folks who have worked hard to grow a brand new organization. It has 57 members as of today in 7 countries. It members voice in at least 9 languages. That’s a lot of good work in a short time. Some of its members and friends post here, and along with the rest help make the online VO community a special place.
I have resolved to keep on keeping on.
Happy New Year All!
Oh and it was a kick to talk with DB on the phone. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

The best of 2007?
That's easy: my five wonderful children (they know who they are), who make me smile, laugh, and proud every single day.
And my 326 VO friends, who do the same. |

Overall, 2007 was a good year for my world.
Meeting all the Carolina VO talents was a highlight for sure. We need to plan another one of those get togethers. That was of course made possible by this wonderful group. I've learned a great deal and I can always count on all my good friends here to give the best advice and to not pull any punches.
But if I had to pick one single thing in my life this past year, it would be my wife completing her RN degree. I am so very proud of her! She has worked for close to 20 years in the medical field as a nursing assistant and had been taking evening classes towards her goal, but two years ago we decided to have her take the plunge and work only part time and take these two years to complete her degree.
She really is an awesome person. I feel so lucky to have found her. We've only been together 8 years, but it seems like a lifetime. So similar, yet so different are we. She hates public speaking, would rather die than have the attention of a room on her but would stand in front of a car to save a squirrel.
She's the best thing in my life every year. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.
