Letterman's production company, which he owns, worked out a temporary deal with the writers' union. Conan and Leno are produced by NBC Universal and have no such deal so they (along with Kimmel) will be sans writer. _________________ Chris Rice - Noisemaker

Chris,
Thanks for the details.
My issue is still with the freekin union.
They scream Solidarity 24/7, 365.
This is not Solidarity.
Guess I'm just a purist and I need to get over that.
Thanks again for the info.

Mucho Thanks to Bob Bergen for filling in the blanks!
It's all about leverage!
If I could master this concept...oh never mind.
This is why I need an agent and a full time live in nurse. now if I can just get the wife talked into it.
GREAT 08 to ya'll!

DC,
It's good to see you there. I hope you have a great '08 too. And I hope I get to see you again sometime this year. _________________ Be well,

Yeah, if Letterman and Ferguson get great ratings while Leno and O'Brien sink then the strategy will have worked. If not, well, it's back to the drawing board for the WGA.
I'm boycotting watching most TV in solidarity, but since I'm not in a Nielsen family it probably doesn't matter.
I must admit I'm a bit starved for new TV so I stayed up way past my bedtime to watch the first half hour of Letterman with Robin Williams. Worth it.

Leno might have broken Union Rules. Read about it here.
p.s. I missed Craig, too. |
