|
|
Anyone have experience in narrating children's books? I have been asked to give a rate for a series of children's book narrations (16 books, 16 pages each). I am clueless as to how to price a narration for these.
The cool part is the agency is owned by a Skidmore Alum who saw the write up about moi in the alumni magazine...so blatant self promotion WORKS!!
((I tried to search through the archives, but didn't find anything.))

Sorry, I can't help you with the pricing... but I will say that after seeing your article, I contacted the University of Florida Alumni magazine editor and tried to sell her on an article about me. She's actually interested and is going to get back to me.
We'll see...
Thanks for the good idea Moe!!!! _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Banks is way right on this. Remember to treat it as a work for hire. Once it’s gone, it gone for good.
That is unless you are getting a good up front rate and strong participation.
I’ve been researching the Audio Book market all day. Tomorrow I have a meeting with a small publishing house. My goal is a production participation deal on their titles. And like your deal it a network thing. My wife and his wife are friends. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

Is that per hour of recorded audio or per hour spent in the studio? _________________ Jeff

AFTRA rate is $145 per hour OR per completed SIDE which they define as a completed 5 minute segment, whichever is higher. So, I'm guessing if you can read 20 minutes worth in an hour your effective rate is $580 per hour, and if your accuracy (great first take) rate is higher, even more.
Hourly (ala Philip's suggestion) might be best no matter what... how long is a page in these books? I've read children's books that were about 25 words per page.
Have fun,
