I just got a script for a session I have in 30 minutes, and there's one tricky word. Anyone have any tips on how to say:
... and from the moment she breathes it in...
I'm having trouble with the word "breathes"... I can't seem to do the "th" and the "s" right.
Any tips? _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I'm no one qualified to give a final answer, but after sitting here and saying it 20 times, I figure you could try this:
...and the moment she BREEEzit in...
just slightly a harder push on the first half of the word, and make the z very soft.

I'll bet I'm too late to help— rats!
Sometimes saying the TH of "breathes" right behind your front teeth instead of on the tip of your tongue under the front teeth helps elide into the "S" a little more easily. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

THANKS!! That does work, DB!!! And, thanks to IndyMandy, who even took the time to call me!!! I love talking to vo-bbers!
I didn't really think about the word once I got into the read... I suppose maybe I was over-analyzing it? It got to the point there when I looked at the word before the session, it didn't even look like a word.
I guess it was fine b/c the client and the studio were both very complimentary. That's what I love about this business... yes you get rejection, but it's generally not to your face, but the praise IS right to your face!!!
PS: Frank and Diane, keep an ear out for me in UT... it was a :60 radio commercial/psa for the State of Utah's Anti-Tobacco campaign.
edited for spelling _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!
