I'll see your BLECH and raise you a YARG! This phrase gave me fits the other day during a scratch VO session at work:
"lifetime unit replacement limited warranty"
The kicker was that it was in a :15 that was already too packed with copy. Yarg, I say! _________________ Justin S. Barrett

I remember back to one of my first gigs, about a fish market opening in town. The tag line was ""Flash frozen and fresh from the fishin' fleet!!"
I put that in my list of warmups...

Diane,
I feel your pain. Here was the bane of my studio time today, a part of my many, many sessions (and many, many to come) recording the entire Bible for Thomas Nelson Publishers.
Quote: | Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, his brothers and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites, and I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door. |
That would be verses 3 and 4 of Jeremiah Chapter 35. Probably 15 takes to get everything right. Good grief!

I got hosed today with this copy from one of my favorite clients:
"...Other network specific standards include 802.5 "Token Ring" Access Method, ATM - Asynchronous Transfer Mode-LAN/WANs and X3TP.5 TP-PMD or "Twisted-Pair-Physical Medium Dependant" also called CDDI-LAN Backbone."
...six takes thanks to the "X3TP.5 TP-PMD" speedbump.
Oh, and CCP, "Flash Frozen and fresh from the Flishin' er, I mean Fishing Fweet, er, I mean Fleet..." Remarkable! |

Heh!! The second or third time through, I get "Flesh frozen and frash from the fishin' freet."
I remember we laughed so hard at that one in the studio... finally got through it though. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Bob, I guess it could be a lot easier if you were reading the Really New American Bible translation:
"Then I took Jazz, Jere's kid, who's pop was Old Man Habazz ya know, and all his bros and kids, and everyone at the Rechabite's place, and took 'em to the Big Man's crib, into this one room with all these guys who were Han's kids (who's pop, Iggy is down with the G-Man), and this room is next to the room of these Prince Dudes (an' I don't mean the Purple Rain dude), and right below is Maasie's room, ya know, Shallum's kid, and he's like the bouncer for the whole place." -- Jere's Download, File 35, Clips 3 and 4
Translated from the Greek by a Geek, 2007
When they show people pointing to random verses in the Bible to get solace or advice, I'm not sure they meant these verses.
Bob, how did you do with Exodus 26-27, "How to build a tabernacle in 50 easy steps"?

Bruce,
Hilarious! I love that very fun alternate translation. As far as Exodus goes, we are doing things somewhat out of order, because the process of compiling all those pronunciations in the Pentateuch is taking a lot more time that was planned. So, I still have all that fun ahead of me. _________________ Be well,

Here's one for you...from a recent narration I did.
"The antlers have one branched beam in front with several unbranched tines behind."
I thought I'd never get that one in the bag! |

I'm doing a long piece on Fiber Optics. I got to the point where I couldn't read the phrase "the importance of Fiber" without thinking of digestion.
I could say it...but I couldn't go on for about a minute. Seemed like an eternity. |
