I've seen this as a remedy in a couple of locations. What exactly does the Tums do for you? Can someone explain the physiology of this solution? Do you chew them as normal? Suck on them? Clench them between your teeth? (That last one sounds more like my mother's idea. She had a saying about using aspirin as birth control.)

Bob,
The aspirin doesn't work as birth control if you hold it with your teeth. It has to be between your knees.

Bob,
Ahhhh! Thanks for explaining that! So perhaps I had it backwards. I was putting the Tums between my knees to reduce mouth noise and aspirin between my teeth for birth control!
Now I need to figure out how obstinance prevents pregnancy.

Yes, Tums/Rolaids dry up the liquid in your mouth, but in a nice way and I am still obstinate.
