Hey Gang--

I just heard from our resident Swede, Kalle Widelius, and he said he was on the island of Phi Phi in Thailand when the tsunami struck. He and his ladyfriend are OK, but he said they are grateful to be alive--it was that close.

Holy cow.

Deirdre

Phuket and Phi Phi are standard vacation destinations for the foreign residents of Tokyo. Especially at Christmas. It's almost certain that some people I know were there, probably VO people at that. I have one friend who was going to either Phuket or Koh Samui. I haven't heard anything from her yet. I'm hope she went to Koh Samui.

Living as I do in a major earthquake zone, as do others on this board, this is a major reminder to make sure that all our emergency supplies are up to date and out earthquake routine is practiced. In October we had a quake which we considered large at the time. It killed about 40 people and caused extensive damage, but that's nothing compared the damage these Tsunamis have wreaked. It has really put some things into perspective.

Hey Gang:

I asked Kalle if I could share his letter and he agreed. In spite of the near-death experience, he responds to the technical nature of my first letter-- what a trooper!

He's heading home New Year's Eve.

Whew.

Ämne: Someone is asking an Audio TX question

My Dear Kalle:

Happy Christmas and things!! I hope your days are merry and bright.

Someone at vo-bb.com is asking about Audio TX technology, and frankly,

one of my other pals, Jurgen Stevens was asking about it recently, too.

I know we did a session with that as your receiving CODEC-- so I

wondered if you are still using it and how successful it is for you.

If you have some hands-on information, we could sure use it at

VO-BB.com when you get a chance.

Happy New Year and all blessings

Deirdre

Deirdre!

Nice to hear from you.. I am so glad to write this, I am alive!!! Me and my girlfriend are in Thailand and had the most wonderful vacation on Phi Phi Island when the Tsunami came. You have no idea how close we were of getting killed. 500 dead on this small little island, at least.

I am sure you understand if we can discuss this audio tx when I get back to safe ground in Sweden. In a few days. We are in Bangkok now.

But for me it works to 100%. but i just run it over isdn, not ip.

Love from Kalle
