Okay.. here's the story.
I live in an old house where there is HORRIBLE grounding. I mean horrible. I goof with guitar and my marshall amp buzzes regardless where I put it in my house. Ever since I've had my home studio I've always had a buzz that I had to remove in cool edit (adobe audition). I've noticed it helps if I turn off my computer monitor. Any ideas on how to get rid of the problem?
This is my chain:
SP B1 -> ART TUBE PRE -> Presonus Blue Max -> Sound Board -> Computer.
Thanks,
Isaiah |

move?
Not being glib, but if you know your house has terrible grounding, I don't see how you're going to fix it in your chain. _________________ Jeff

If the problem was severe enough, I'd probably invest in calling a licensed electrician to dignose the problem. You could drive yourself batty trying to figure it out. _________________ Jeff

I would make sure all your gear is plugged in on the same electrical circuit first. If not, that is your issue. You have what is called a ground loop happening. It is grounding and then coming back in on your other circuit and looping causing the hum. Check your fuse box or breaker and see if there are more than one circuit for the room you are in....it is possible. _________________ Ben

You could always create your own ground and attach all your equipment to that.
Get yourself a ground rod, at least 3 feet long, the longer the better. Pound pound pound it into the ground and attach all of your equipment's ground to that.
Now, don't DON'T use the 3 prong ground if you use a separate ground. Old house, who knows where that ground goes. Keep it separate.
Or as suggested above, get an electrician.

I had my studio rewired for exactly that reason.
You'd be wicked glad you invested in an electrician's services. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Isaiah:
You dont say which sound card you have. I had a low grade hum until I upgraded to a high end sound card. Just something else to explore. _________________ "When I was your age, we had to dial to get online"
