Is it just me, or is this a slow time for everyone? There may be advantages in this (like maybe it's a good time to mail demos). Is this time of year usually slow? My workaholic side is getting antsy.

Right now I am very busy. That's why I'm checking on this board in the middle of the day. Bwhaaaaa haaaa haaaa!!!!
(actually...waiting on copy change)

But that doesn't mean it'll continue at this pace. I think it all depends on your clients and their needs.

But seriously, I have found the last few weeks to be kind of slow too, and one of my Florida contacts wrote and said, this is the slow time of year down there. Things have been picking up the last few days though.

It's a roller coaster. Use the time to be find more clients and try something creative -- like write & produce an ad for some company you'd like to work with, because you'll be too busy for that in a few days or weeks!

Yup, until the end of last week it was a s-l-o-w three weeks - now it's picking up really well.

I think we have to define slow. No work, a little work, not enough work, nearly enough work, enough work, more than enough work but not as much as I've been getting or up until now I've been breaking records.

I set my stall out 15 years ago with the following target. 3 sessions per week at my minimum session fee 46 weeks per years. This pays the bills and provides the fun money too. Because my basic target allows me 6 dead weeks per year and 2 days per week where I get no work its stops me going into panic mode ...............Aha! That's it!

Voice over into English translation software has given me what I was looking for

Voice overese "Is it slow?"= English "I'm panicking, are you?"

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is does VO work have busy seasons? The last month hasn't been one for me. When I worked in finance there were times of the year when I knew I'd be really busy, but as Bill said I guess it depends on your clients and their needs.

Yes, there are certainly slow periods. If you're providing imaging services, the last month was pretty rough, people change jobs and select new station voices, etc. There's certainly been a lot of activity, in my case trailer auditions for films and video games are on Banksey's schedule, but these are auditions....

Some may identify their slow periods by the time of year. I, on the other hand, can only identify these periods according to frequency of work. When I'm working... life is good. When I'm not working... life is slow. :roll:

Hah!

I've been doing things like working on a new multimedia demo and I cut a few PSA's I've been meaning to get to. And marketing. So I've been productive. Heaven forbid I should lie around all day like a slug-a-bed (isn't that a great word? I've been looking for an excuse to use it.) And today I'm going to take a swim and then lie out in the sun, so it's not all bad.

Ahhhhh..........I think summer has finally arrived here in Oregon.

I honestly crave slow times now and then, to get my office in order.

Website updates, demo updates, etc. It's tough with all the other stuff I need to keep track of and do domestically.

Yikes.
I need a wife or something.

Every other week, a crew decends upon Camp Cooper and cleans it top to bottom.
$75 per episode.

Worth every nickel.
I've got better things to do than clean the stove.
We ALL do!
I need spend my time and energy doing my job (voice), so I don't mind paying someone else to do THEIR job (cleaning).
