I just wanted to throw this out to see if others have had this problem.
I'm starting down the "long and winding road" of some long over due dental repairs. I've been told that what I'll end up with is a pair of "partials" uppers... 3 on the right, 2 on the left... with a thin plastic band that will travel behind my front teeth. I asked the dentist if this would affect my speech. He claims that it will affect my pronunciation of the letter "s", but I should be able to make adjustments and things will normalize in time.
Has anyone had to face a "dental" challenge like this... or is this going to be no big deal? By the way...implants are not going to be considered for economic reasons. :(

Should you need to, you may be able to re-place your "s".
You might be able to set your "S" to one side, behind your eye teeth.

Don't fret.
Whatever happens, you won't lose your edge. There's always the pencil technique to sharpen up your enunciation.

Write to me if you need further clarification but mostly

DON'T WORRY.

To answer your question, "Has anyone had to face a "dental" challenge like this...?" Yes! Now all I want for the holidays is my two front teeth...

Seriously, as DB stated, don't worry - you have the talent -now make it work FOR you...

The "S" sound can be modified, but it may effect you slightly as you get used to speaking differently...

Then again, you won't have to worry much about sibilance will you?

Frank F (notice there are no "s's" in my name...)

BTW in all seriousness, hows your "situation" regarding your tooth coming along, Frank?
