I didn't have a picture of the Don, so I had to dig up something.
Neil and his wife traveled across the US in their van and did shows in 2004, so I dragged Andrea to his show at Antone's in Austin. We hung out and spoke with them after the show and he did a couple IDs for the internet station I was working with at the time (as himself and Ron Nasty). Very nice folks and Andrea ended up loving the show. _________________ Greg Littlefield

Oh No.
I have always thought
in the back of my mind
cheese and onions
I have always thought
that the world was unkind
cheese and onions
Do I have to spell it out?
Oh, no
Man and machine (man and machine)
Keep yourself clean (keep yourself clean)
Or be a has-been (ah ah)
Like a dinosaur... oh oh oh
Man or device (man or device)
For everything nice (everything nice)
You'd better think twice (ah ah)
At least once more... oh oh oh
Man and machine (man and machine)
Keep yourself clean (keep yourself clean)
Or be a has-been (ah ah)
Like a dinosaur... uh ho!
Man or device (man or device)
For everything nice (everything nice)
You'd better think twice (ah ah)
At least once mo ho hore!
Man and machine (man and machine)
Keep yourself clean (keep yourself clean)
Or be a has-been (aahaah)
Like a dinosaur oh oh oh oh ho!
(Man or device)
Ooooh!
(Everything nice)

Here is Cheese and Onions.
I hope Mr. Innes won't mind my posting it for the further edification of brilliant minds. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Oh, I'm sure he won't mind.
But there are others watching from the bushes and they might mind...

That song, and many others, are part of the soundtrack of a television show produced in the late 1970s called "The Rutles: All You Need is Cash." It was a mockumentary about a band called the Rutles -- a parody of the Beatles. Neil Innes and Eric Idle wrote the songs, all of which pay homage to certain Beatles songs or combinations of Beatles songs. Lots of big names were involved in the project, including, perhaps most notably, George Harrison. But Bill Murray, Mick Jagger, and Paul Shaffer were all in it, I believe. Greg or Deirdre might be able to list more of the stars who made appearances in it. The show was based on a very funny idea that was handled masterfully -- at least according to those of us of a certain age who grew up enjoying the Beatles and Monty Python. I've always had the soundtrack album in my regular rotation of music, because the songs are, as far as parodies go, really quite catchy and clever -- at least they are for those of us of that certain age. Almost like real Beatles songs. |

I definitely noticed the Beatles reference with the Yellow Submarine Sandwich and all.. but
Cheese and Onions? That's where the mental block goes into effect. Thanks for the background though. _________________ Donovan

(Cut to a group of a dozen singing monks standing in the middle of a gravel pit as bulldozers and large trucks drive back and forth in the background:)
