OK, here's the scoop. Apparently everyone's making them up! My agent forwarded me several auditions w/talent using the "intercontinental". One sounded sort of like Omar Shariff, another sort of British, sort of not. It might be kind of hard to maintain for an entire narration, but if they pay more for an accented read why not give it a shot?

Here in the UK, things are much simpler. Copy is either given to the voice written in the required accent or in post production the sound engineer puts the audio through the dialect filter.

The Don La Fontaine is a preset, no matter how you start your read it is pre-fixed "In a world...."

For the best British accent use - Disney animation villain voice.

The SoCal Lawyer plug-in was $650 extra and doesn't appear to do anything. The Realtor is fine just doesn't sound believable. The San Francisco Gay male only works for 30 seconds and then breaksdown in tears. Mine must have a fault as the New York cabbie and the Eastern European appear to sound identical.

I am sorry to have to correct you, BUT, while HARD to believe, there IS such a thing as a Humble Texan. Myself, and my fellow resident of The Lone Star State Dave Dehart, are proof. We don't speak loudly and we are not the bragging type. No, we prefer to speak softly and let our accomplishments go unnoticed and never publicly announce them. Yes, we prefer the quiter, humbler way.
With that said, we will now quietly ride off into the sunset.,,,,,

Population of Humble, Texas is 85,000 they'd just rather not brag. I wonder if there's a Modest somewhere near Deleware? Town motto "Don't live here or visit, there are much nicer places".

Hi guys and gals...

Just returned from a radiojob in Spain, so maybe a bit late my two cents...

Over here in The Netherlands intercontinental English is considered that what we hear in tv-series. Most Europeans get their English basic education from the shows they watch on the tube. Especially over here it's a mixture between US and UK shows. The rest ofcourse is in Dutch. I get this question of intercontinental English all the time to be honest...

In our case it means the spots can air in both the UK and other foreign countries where the people are fluent in English. In the UK they're not considered too American, and outside the UK it's something in the middle.

I hope I explained this clear enough, it might be a bit misty because of my intercontinental thinking. I had to speak five languages on that radiojob, pretty confusing :oops:
