|
|
I have a client who wants a backing track from a Digital Juice collection I don't own. Is it allowable for me to "buy" a 2 minute track (for this project only) from someone who does own the collection?
I kind of doubt it, but figured I'd ask before I tell the client it can't be done. _________________ Jeff

Nope. The DJ Eula says:
Quote: | 5. You may not sell, sublicense, loan, give, or transfer any part of the Music or a copy thereof except in accordance with the permitted use in a production created by you. Any attempt to do so will result in criminal prosecution in accordance with copyright laws. |
Tell the client, sure but it will cost him $100. I figure you can eat the shipping if he buys you a CD. Or just email them and ask them if they'll sell you one track. All they can say is no. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

The music libraries from Digital Juice are so (relatively) cheap and (relatively) good that you ought to buy the whole set that has the track the client wants, then pass the entire cost on to the client. That will give you the whole set to use in the future.
I have nearly every music and SFX package Digital Juice offers. The StackTraxx sets are smaller and more costly but can be remixed in various combinations. The BackTraxx collections are complete (30+ CDs) libraries that sell for around $300. A bargain!
Check the website, this weekend Digital Juice was offering any three StackTraxx volumes for $59. |

There are many sources available and choosing one over all the others is tough to do because so many of them are so very good.
One that I like is www.flyinghands.com - - you client can log in and audition cuts to his heart's content and once he settles on one, you can download that particular track and use it. Their prices are quite reasonable and the product is very good. |

Yeah I took advantage of it and got 3. But I got the gig after I ordered them and the client didn't like anything I bought. Lucky me, eh? _________________ Jeff
