I've got a chance to pick up one of these for just about nothing for phone sessions. Anybody use one?

I'm gonna try it. If that doesn't work for me I know the Telos One would. Just tryin to save a few bucks. |

I remember Jeff McNeal saying something about a Telos unit that he was able to upgrade to work as a phone patch as well as an ISDN unit.
It's in the archives somewhere.

Russ,
Super tough to get a good null on those. If you're just using it for phone patch and don;t care about teh quality of your voice vs caller in a recording..they're good. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Thanks guys for all the opinions, it made me rethink it. Already called'em back and told them never mind. Went with a Telos One.

I recall reading that as well. We used to use our ISDN unit as a phone hybrid sometimes at the sports talk stations. Crazy to think that a Telos 1x6, and two Hotline units weren't enough at times. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Anthony,
I'm not a super-techie by any means, but I recall analog units from my local radio days being callled "hybrids" as well as digital units, later. _________________ Be well,

Mine works fine. I have to really crank up the volume for the listener, but they all seem to be happy with it. It makes a terrible racket on my cordless phone, so I get on to the mic and talk to them through the hybrid as quickly as possible.

I realize that this is a very late reply to a very old post, but just for the sake of academia, one "leg" (as in phone number) of the Telos Zephr Xstream makes for the best phone patch I've ever used. No modifications were necessary. I just have the client call in, bring up that channel on my board and they can hear me perfectly, I can hear them perfectly, and nothing from their end prints to the recording. |
