Since nearly all of my work is in the commercial broadcast category, I'm really at a loss on this one. Only after auditioning for and winning what was called a "small narration" gig, did I find out the details.

Three separate scripts, 14pt type, double spaced. The kicker is that the scripts will be 40, 45, and 60 pages long.

The client is asking for a quote for each script, broken down to a "per page" price. (And in case it matters, I'll be doing the work on ISDN from my studio, with the client initiating the call.)

I've searched the archives but couldn't find much appropriate to this situation. I'd really appreciate some pointers from thos of you who have experience pricing projects like this.

Thanks so much!

Doug,

I guess I would read 3 pages from one script, divide by 3 to get your average time per page for that script. Do the same for the other 2. Average the three results to get your average time per page. Then figure out:

1. A rate per hour that your comfortable with.

2. Using the average time per page you calculated above, divide to get your rate per page.

A lot will also depend on whether you're providing raw voice tracks or finished edited scripts. Don't forget to account for that time, if that's the case.
