Here's a home-studio sound booth that's guaranteed to work. Guaranteed to stop the transmission of low end sound waves. Neighbors will never complain. Keeps husbands and kids out, too! From Users' Conference on Digidesign's board under the topic, "Studio Pictures". Somebody said, "let's share!"

Quiet-- but not much of a view.

If you're thinking of installing Auralex or some other expensive acoustic-deadening material, I stumbled onto a great idea this weekend.

I had been searching all of the musicians catalogs and websites for the best price on Auralex and was showing a sample of it to my friend. He picked it up, tossed it around a bit and said, "Why don't you just use a mattress pad?"

So, I drove over to WalMart, spent $36 and bought enough mattress padding to cover my entire vocal booth (over 100 sq.ft. of wall space). It even has a nice pattern on it, so it doesn't look like a crappy mattress pad. Also, it comes in white instead of that dark gray, which I think would inhibit the light and make the booth feel like a dungeon. Now my workspace is bright, the sound is dead as a doornail, and I saved $264!!

My wife is happy that I finally took the good duvet off the wall.

Now your wife can tell all your friends, "He's in the white walled padded room" .... and the straight jacket is coming, it's a shame you didn't get grey!

I wonder how much cheaper it is to actually build your studio that way (in concrete) then place itin the ground.... any ideas?
