I concur with what you say here. You have to realize that you are the writer and director of your own life story, with other players wandering into the shot and doing improv. As the director, you can allow them to stay or have them removed from the set if they're not moving the plot forward. Setting boundaries is important.

Would anyone like half of my Twix?
