Thanks Kevin.

Every discussion of mics includes a try-before-you-buy caveat, but I can imagine it's a bit hard to do sometimes.

Thanks for letting me know about the Sweetwater guys.

I've officially had my BESTest gear purchase of all time, thanks to MCM who forwarded the info about Waveworks Digital Media's auction. It's not really gear, it's studio furniture - a $25 rack and a $10 desk. Unfortunately I didn't get that nice little ProControl!!

The items I did not get...
8x12 Whisper Room - $3000
2 Neumann U87 - $2800 (one was apparently stolen right after the bid)
002 System - $1700, included computer, 2 flat screens and wave plugs
Sounds-Ideas sfx - $900 (should have been $6k)

I'll stop at that because the rest will really start to make you cringe. It really sucks to see another good shop go under, but I guess it's a sign of the times that more and more individuals are taking it to their project studios.

I made numerous contacts during the 5 hours of 'wait' for the auction to get to the furniture.

Kevin

So it's true that Waveworks has gone under? That was what I first thought, then I checked their website and it was still functional (not that that makes a whole lot of difference.) I thought that possibly they were relocating and were dumping their old stuff?

If they have gone out of business, it is too bad.

Update ... I spoke with them today. They moved out of the building they were in. If you're not familiar with the location, it has recently become an 'extremely' expensive area. The auctioneer may have given me bad information, it sounds like they're all doing freelance now.

I'd say you got one heck of a bargain on both the rack and the desk. I'd say about $1000 of a deal. Way to go!
