Oh yes indeed, the photo is mine. Usually I'll mention a creator only if it ISN'T mine. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

You have a great eye for photography. Is that a hobby?
I have been an amateur / semi-pro photog since high school. I've done weddings, events and some headshots. I did my own headshots on my site though you'd never tell I had any talent from those. I need to redo them soon. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

That's an amazing photo Deirdre.
I never seem to have my camera when there is a white church steeple in that just-before-or-after-a-storm weird light. Got a little bit of the cool weird light thing going in this picture out my window this weekend

It's a semi-pro-hobby-kind-of-thing.
I do self portraits, too-- but they tend to be wild, as people on this board can attest.
Also, Joe--

Mary-- that's a grand picture. And I know that kind of sky you're talking about!
But sometimes the film or pixels don't see what we saw.

Well, I can't be left out of this loop. Found this fantastic place near Toronto called the Cheltenham Badlands and this is one of the pictures I took there a couple of weeks ago.

Just a bit of a Photoshop hack.
Here's your original:
Took the sponge tool and saturated your focal-point tree:
Another layer is this overlay. I cut some dark neutral grey into the general shape of the sky, and then thrashed about with erasures and additions with different brushes, flows and opacities. Then, I set the layer blend to "darken" at 68% opacity:
Put them together and boom. This is really more likely what your eyes saw.
Pixel cameras just don't have the range and subtleties our eyes do. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I’ll take photographing leaves any day.
During my four year stint in the Navy, I was a Navy Photographer. If it flew or floated… I photographed it. How many people do you know, that had to shoot an autopsy, two weeks before they got married?... Thank you.
Yes... b/w photos and color slides... very educational. _________________ "Bailey"

As a photographer myself, that is an amazing shot Diedre! I'm old school though - learned and still prefer my old fully manual Pentax K-100 with some really great optics. I'm trying to get a grip on this whole digital thing - but somehow it doesn't feel the same to me. Part of what I love is what I do in the dark room after I shoot. Oh well - time to get into the new millenium I guess. Anyway - Diedre I wanted to ask you where abouts in New England do you hail from, I'm from North Adams Mass myself. Not now of course, but I was born there and lived there for about 5 years in my early teens. Just curious. I do miss the fall in the Berkshires. I have a Pentax K-1000 since high school. I still love that camera. I also have a Mamiya 645 which I hardly ever use and my digital a Fuji S9000. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

I have a Canon AE1 for film (Fuji, natch!) and I use a Canon Optura 20 for digital video and stills. Tiny bit of megapixel action, but you don't need a ton if you know about light.
Tammy-- You can always delete a post you've made with the little "X" in the upper RH corner of the message window.
I'm in South Berwick, Maine.
And, incidentally you guys--it's "Deirdre".
