This is the stuff Grandpa or Grandma would say. Please contribute, keep 'em short, keep 'em real!

1 - Best motivational quote to hear when you're a new, struggling voiceover - "Find a job that will pay your bills and do voiceover work for fun in the evenings and on weekends." Remember that VO seminars, conferences, coaches and demo producers don't give refunds!"

Listen to the talents you admire. There's a lot to learn if you can figure out what and why they're doing what they do.

1) As long as you can read copy & string two words together in (roughly) the right order, it doesn't really matter what you sound like... but if you can't run a business, you'll get nowhere.

2) Never take advice from someone who wants your credit card number.

In the early part of a VO career you don't win a lot of auditions. Funny thing, later in an established career you don't win a lot either. The trick? Find clients and agents who don't go through that audition rigamarole and serve them, and love them, and keep them.

An audition is an application for a job and most jobs worth having pay (in the US) around $35,000 per year + H&R.
