Interesting post!
I used for several years rode nt2000. I won’t lie it was doing quite well
Then, a friend bought another mic for his collection and was going on and on about it… I said SHUTUP and bought my own — at5040 that is. It is still the mic i use 95% of the time.
I ve had 416 for about 4 years, but barely used it. Thinking of giving it a try; its elevated mid highs somewhat concern me but hey, we have the eq 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Also, I got md441u - well, that one is for sentimental reasons. Back in the ussr they used it heavily for news tv program “VREMYA” and I really wanted to have that mic. I find it absolutely beautiful looking, and it sounds great. It is a dynamic mic. The only thing is that it is gain hungry. I got that fet whatever amp thingie, and it works just great!
And… shure sm7b - i have three - use them for broadcasting purposes:)
Theoretically, I would like u87 but
1 not sure if it will agree with my nature 😂🤣😂🤣😂
2 I cannot understand why it is so expensive. Will wait until someone gives it to me for my birthday 🎉 😂🤣😂🤣😂
That is all for now…
PS i was very happy with Rode nt2000… but you know that people judge you by the cover… well, got myself a good one
Oh, and no separate preamp here. Use whatever my m32r console has to offer - sounds great to me. Again, can’t compare to anything else. 😜😜😜 _________________ Best,

Ears and Eyes.
If people are really hearing your microphone, take a look at your performance!

My daily work mic is an MKH 50
My #2 is an original model SM7
The mic I've used at another studio and sounded amazing on was a U67 |
