I am so furious about this that I am typing! Ok, I paused then but I am now typing again.

Mr Awesome VO Manager has been wooting again about what? Well!

I am indebted to Twitter for pointing out that there is a person who is the undisputed authority on Automotive voice over. GREAT! Except that isn't a thing! If you have the skills required to do voiceover work then you can sell a Mazda to a 26 year old Dental Hygienist from Miami.

Is the person being sold actually lying? No, of course not. Do I have the "undisputed authority" to spurn him like a rabid dog and cast him out into the wilderness where there is a weeping and a wailing and a gnashing of teeth? Errrr No! Duh!

"Philip, I have 57 custom demos for every genre"

"Well Zwip (his brand, real name Kevin). I never thought I'd find a person like you. Someone actually too stupid to be a voiceover!"

"Awesome! That is SO going on my website!"

Voiceover work is the way I pay my bills and it has helped do this for around 30 years. I am, without doubt, extremely lucky.

We all need to unite against the street corner pushers. The new drug of choice? VOshyte. If you know someone who is hooked and needs help, I'm here at the end of the phone or on Skype. No charge but an AWFUL lot of swearing.

Said manager has blocked me on the Tweeter so I am now blissfully unaware of his nonsense. Highly recommend.

Everything is a thing.
I used to object when things became things (rather than just part of a bigger thing).
Now I'm more inclined to do my thing and ignore the other things.

The problem is that many people I know who are pretty good at certain things have been told that their thing is unique and that they should sell it. Or, more accurately, work for someone who will try and create a large need for their thing amongst people who are being trained to mistakenly depend on these things.

Everyone wants a slice of the thing... sorry, I mean the pie thing.

I prefer "He has Polarised me" which is what it is and that is SO a thing!

Lemme see. The auto commercial read - Not a thing.
The TV promo read - Not a thing
VO Branding - Complete and utter bollocks SOooooo, technically a thing though not.
The Voice Over community. If it is a thing then it's a Man Eating Unicorn named Alan.
How to audition - Not a thing unless the person teaching knows the person requesting the audition well enough to second guess them and if they do they should simply call and say use e.g Bish.
"Town Hall meetings" nuff said!
And outside of VO. MoCap training. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE TRAINED HOW TO MOVE AWKWARDLY IN A SKIN TIGHT BLACK LYCRA ONESIE COVERED IN TABLE TENNIS BALLS.

I cannot wait to see what VOSHYTE Dot Com will look like. Do place a linky here when it is complete. Or whenever.

Also, I happen to be highly trained in Moving Awkwardly in a Skin Tight Black Lycra Onesie Covered in Table Tennis Balls (aka the "MASTBLOC" method -- the TTB is left off, due to the often-controverted variations in ball techniques) -- and I can assure you it's highly overrated. I paid huge amounts of cash for this privilege and wouldn't trade a second of it for a pineapple-and-anchovy pizza from the finest joint in New York City.

In other news, the cherry blossoms are out in full force, and I shall go frolic in them as soon as I make the mouth noises in the padded room. Wink

If you're offering gin, I'll have a double.

Thankee kindly.

PS: Bish does not disclose his middle name ... not even for a slice of the aforementioned pizza. Even if smoked kippers can be substituted for the anchovies.
