"Doods, waddaya wish you'd known about voiceover 5 years ago that y'know now?"

Ok, it was intended to gain traction on Twitter as opposed to add to the knowledge of the twit, but it did make me think.

I felt compelled to reply. What have I HONESTLY noticed to the exclusion of all else?

Most people looking to launch themselves into the voice over market will pay a fortune for an ego massage but nothing for real, usable knowledge. Reality is that there is a dearth of the latter and an over supply of the former.

More important than my above response is what I have gained personally. Literally 100's of hours of free time thanks to no longer bothering to tell people things they'd rather not know.

The future?

"So Philip, you do voiceover work. I should SO try doing that!"

I, (real world sh*t) bought a knitted cardigan a few weeks ago. NOW I am warm all around the house as opposed to every room in my house being warm in the unlikely event that I become omnipresent.

This is where I question the detrimental effects of moving to the US. Over twenty years, and I have managed to maintain my British accent and some Albion quirkiness (force-feeding strangers Marmite & Branston pickle)... but I find myself sitting here in a t-shirt and hoodie. A hoodie. I hang my head in shame while thinking about the perfectly serviceable knitted cardigans I left back in the UK. On my next visit, I shall pop into The Oxfam Shop where there will be a veritable plethora of cardies to choose from.

I am devoid of Hoodies and fleeces with one exception. A few years ago I spent Christmas and the News Years (as they say over there) in the colonies. Whilst in Lost Angulars I had reason to visit the studios of Mr Disney. Should members of his staff need stuff they have a Factory Shop on site, presumably said staff are paid in Truck tickets. How very progressive! Knowing that I would be required to be in a cold place for some hours the following day it was essential that I acquire a warm outer layer. Courtesy of Mr and Mrs Bumble who ran the Disney Factory Shop I became the proud owner of Hoodie 1 (illustrated). I feel obliged to keep it as it may be used in evidence at a future extortion trial.

"This is a bit of a Mickey Mouse hoodie" I quipped as I handed over my cash.

"Yes" replied Mrs Bumble as Mr Bumble nodded in silent unanimity.

You gents know they do sell cardigans here in the Colonies. We call them cardigans. Perhaps your difficulty finding them is, when you go to the store and ask for jumpers, they send you to the automotive department.
