I tell everyone who wants to get into the VO business that theatre (classes, scene study, or plays) is the best traing they can get. I've done plenty, having been in 20+ plays, directed several, and owned a theater that produced 40 different shows, but I haven't been on stage for seven years now, so it was time to enjoy the roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd once again.

Here's a publicity shot we just took. The show's called "Vilna's Got a Golem" and runs at the Arizona Jewish Theatre the first three weekends in November (in case you're down this way):

I'm sure that may have been his first choice, but the dress size was a deciding factor.

Yeah, I was wondering where Bruce got such a fine babushka...

I am going to be in Phoenix, Bruce. At last check, my folks are headed that way from New England and I thought it a good way to see them without having to endure a flight back east again. So I'm planning a road trip and it coincides with your play dates, as does my parents' visit! Purrrrfect! (Doc Phillips--can you make it??) I'll be in touch, Bruce. This is very exciting! I was hoping to connect with you (business write-off, dontcha know?) and now this is gravy on the cake!

Bruce is totally right about stage training being awesome for VO folks.

It's one of the very best ways to learn how to control your breath, enunciation, presence, and projection. AND it really separates the wannabes from the willbes because the people with guts and determination will take up the challenge.

Diane,

As much as I'd love to join you and Bruce in Phoenix, it's not looking good at this point.

However, if I can, I will.

It's frustrating that I'm only 100 miles away and can't get away to meet you guys. Embarrassed

Bruce, congratulations on the gig. Break a leg!

I agree with you about theater training and in fact I am in a show as well. It's Little Shop of Horrors and I do the voice of the plant. If anyone is down Jersey way, in the next couple of weeks, stop by and say hello! Click here for more info.

Bruce Miles Makes Triumphant Return to Stage

That'll probably be Saturday's headline in the Arizona Republic News.

I'm just back from the theatre, having had the honor of watching Bruce on stage in not one, not two but (at least) three roles in this fine production. Great tragi-comedy, or a comedy within a comedy. We noshed ever-so-briefly and his lovely wife Emma took our photo (forthcoming, I assume) and now I think I ought to take an acting class. Great fun!
