Export is a new term for me as I try to make AA6 work for me after using AA3 for so many years. (Had to get a "new" editing tower recently and don't have AA3 on it - yet...)

Here's the problem...

When I convert files to 8K/16 bit and then individually Save As u-Law (through a much more circuitous route than AA3) - the files sound fine - no additional hiss is introduced.

BUT when I try to do a batch Save As process, I can't seem to find that function in the Batch Process menu. There is an Export option, but when I try putting in the same parameters to "export" as u-Law (as when saving individually) - a lot of noise/hiss is introduced into those files.

Is there a batch Save As function in AA6?

Frankly, I'd like to get AA3 back on my "new" computer.

edit > batch process > drag files to box > export settings > libsndfile > set sample type > run

i don't experience any "hiss"

oh - make sure the "favorite" box at the top of the "batch process" window is set to "none" --- unless, of course, you want an effect applied.

I did all of the above and am getting a hiss. I'll send you a couple of files in email a bit later and maybe you can see what I am talking about.

OK, I think I figured it out. Something I overlooked. I had changed the bit depth to 8 PRIOR to the Export to mu-Law step and that introduced the hiss.

This time I changed that back to 16-bit and when I exported to the mu-Law file, it was fine.

Yeah, it was developed when memory space was a precious commodity. Now that it's $5 a terabyte on something the size of a match stick (or some such ridiculousness) I have no idea why they're sticking with ancient Greek cows (moooo).
