Over the past years the 30-track log tapes of EVERY separate audio com channel at mission control from the WHOLE MISSION, every second, has been recovered and restored by Univ Texas. it all has been put up as a NASA website running the ENTIRE MISSION, launch to recovery in real time for these days.
It has images to match where the mission is, all of the television transmission from the capsule (even the test ones we never saw) , Every boring word from every rambling discussion about land line problems, shift-change notices... all of it... even recordings made on board the spacecraft when it was BEHIND the moon, and we could never hear the chatter of the crew, has been put in and synched up to the second.

Im crazy... i listen to this as my day background non stop... replacing NPR and the local classical station WBJC

It's Just Like Being There...

I’m too tight on time these days to listen to all of that as enjoyable as it sounds, but I thoroughly remember watching it all live. The world wide excitement and collective bated breath was amazing to experience. It’s sad to think we may never see something this thrilling and unifying again.

The doctor I saw this week was a med student in India then and said without live TV coverage they all gathered around radios to “watch” events unfold.
