I've been using the backup Time Machine function for ages on my Mac and I haven't had a serious need for it until today. A producer I worked with years ago has a major sports outlet interested in contracting with him to produce a series of audio programs and he wants to present me as the voice for the new project, yay. Could I dig up a couple of his favorite narrations, from 10 years ago to present our work? I dug and dug through the backup drive visually with no luck, but using Time Machine, I found a top one in seconds.

It could be months or years of future work. Just a reminder to find a good backup program/system and use it.

What's your favorite way to store and then find past files?

B

Like you, I use my Mac's Time Machine. But because I record on an external drive, Time Machine backs up the administrative and all other non-audio files. After recording to my primary external drive, audio is backed up to a secondary external using Tri-Backup, which also performs other backup functions between still other external drives.
