				| Not to drive a point into the ground, but here is Sir Ian McKellen giving Ricky Gervais' character on "Extras" tips on being Gandalf. I like his "method".

				| I know a VO Coach who will deconstruct that over a weekend for $1,500 incl mic time.
"Blimey that was intuitive!" All the students will exclaim which is VOspeke for "I am SO not admitting that is $1,500 I'll never see again.

				| So meta... Of course, you realize that was Sir Ian acting the part of Sir Ian explaining the process of acting Gandalf.
 ... so many layers!

I think, because of that, the deconstruction would be nearer $2,500... and advertised as an, "Advanced Master Class"

				| The moment that really makes that whole scene is the subtle left-eye squint from Sir Ian. Genius. Learning how to control facial micro-expressions can really lift a performance to the sublime.
 IMHO, of course.
This is not a paid endorsement.

Also ... is there someone willing to shell out $1500 to sit around and deconstruct it? Wow. Just ... wow. (Although I have a sneaking feeling ... is that what's really going on at fancy-pants acting schools?) (he he he - kidding)

				| Brilliant.
The ending made me actually... LAUGH OUT LOUD.

 ...Thanks for that.

				| On a completely irrelevant note: I always thought Ricky Gervais was at his best when being the befuddled straight man to someone else's insanity. | |
