I moved recently and had to change how my purpose-built recording booth was set up. My original booth was built with two clothing racks and a PVC pipe frame resting on top, secured with zip ties. In the new space, I didn't have room behind the desk for a clothing rack so I had to figure out how to secure the PVC pipe frame at that end of the booth.

I was pretty proud of myself for the idea of using adhesive 3M hooks to hold one end of the PVC pipe frame... until the hooks came off the wall after I put blankets over the whole thing :/ I thought 5-pound hooks would be able to hold the weight... (Clearly I didn't weigh the blankets and do the math...)

So I switched to 35-pound garment hooks I screwed into the wall. The screws are small so the holes will be easy to patch when the time comes to move again.

Here's the structure with the plastic hooks *before* I put the blankets over them...

And now the finished booth using the metal garment hooks. It's a great booth because it's more compact than my past ones and I have plenty of room to stand while I do voice work.

I'm excited to be back to recording again Smile

It doesn't have to be stylish and expensive to be truly effective. Clever and nicely done.

Good job!

I made something like that out of Camouflage Moving Blankets from Harbor Freight. Hahaha! It actually does an incredible job of creating a nice dead space that makes my mic sound right.

I'm sure that will serve you quite well.

Top tip: if you don't have many other holes to fill and you don't feel like buying a tub of joint compound or spackle, you can use toothpaste.

It's fabby AND I'm sure it's working just fine.

"Philip Banks works from a broadcast quality/professional quality voice over studio ..."

Guess what, there ain't no such potato! In the UK broadcast meant nothin' after the death of the IBA well over 25 years ago and "professional quality" has never meant anything. It either sounds ok or it doesn't.

Now, you can receive WOVO accreditation through me for the VOICES DOT COM negotiated rate of $675, fully managed. The person who does this used to work in radio in the USA so he is unpolluted by knowledge, qualifications or facial hair but does regularly advise on an internet through the medium of eye rolling, Duck modelling and "colouring in" on subjects such as what mic is bestest, is ISDN dead and sound proofing for the under 5s.

Have a fabluss week!
