I have a Source-Connect session tomorrow, and I'm getting over a cold. I'll sound fine, I believe, but I'd like to spare the remote studio from my barking cough. Shocked

Is there a way to mute myself for a second while I cough? And if so, do I do it through Source-Connect, or through my DAW, or... how do I do it?

Many thanks to the VO-BB Tech Gurus...

You might try your preamp if it has a mute button or your mixer.

My preamp is outside my booth. Uncertain It needs to be something I can do with my mouse or keyboard.

I have a feeling I'm outta luck.

During colds or allergy events I just click on the red record button on my mic channel on the software screen to turn off my mic feed and then I make the most horrible noises to clear things, and then click back to record when I'm done. Easy peasy.

There are foot operated mic interruption switches available out there if you'd prefer. They take one or two extra mic cables to work usually.

Does your audio interface have a software mixer? There may be a mute on it you can control with your mouse or keyboard.

But if I mute on my DAW (Audacity), that won't affect what they're hearing, will it? They're hearing straight from my mic into Source-Connect, right...?

Shocked

Are you using an USB interface like a Focusrite Scarlett or Audient? There is usually a software mixer for those you can access onscreen.

I have an M-Audio Fast Track.

But all is good -- I borrowed a Cough Drop from a local studio, and it's perfect! And now I'm in the market to buy one...
