If you have a problem with mouth clicks, as I sometimes do, this might be of help to you.

Just updated to iZotope RX6, which has Mouth De-Click, and I can hear a real difference. Never been happy with software solutions before, but for me this might be a game changer.

Here is a before and after sample.

Disclaimer: Not getting anything from iZotope to post this, just thought it was too good not to share.

That is pretty amazing. And you find no degradation of anything else but the clicks on anything you've voiced?

Now that's software that would be absolutely worthless for voice actors who speak the Xhosa language:

As Paul Harvey used to say, "It's not one world."

It seems you can focus only on the clicks, and make adjustments to make sure you are only on the clicks. Can not say for sure if there is any degradation of anything else, but it sounds good to my ears. Plan to run it by an engineer friend next month when he is back from vacation Smile

Here is a link to a tutorial that demonstrates how it works...

Bruce, as far as those who speak Xhosa, I think they have their own version, Mouth Re-Click !

I once got hand-slapped by a client for using one of these (I think it was Adobe Audition software) , but this was several years ago so the technology is probably better, but just sayin' . cool

I went and pulled the trigger on an upgrade from RX4 to RX6 today. (Scott's nefarious plan to have me spend money is working like a charm!) As someone far too obsessive and nit-picky over mouth clicks, I gotta say this new version is the bee's knees. I'm still feeling my way, but I've already discovered that the RX6 mouth de-click is a massive improvement over the previous offering and is going to save me a TON of time.

I hope this is not going too far afield but...

I'm finding this all very disturbing.

Why?

Because I'm having great difficulty in hearing any clicks AT ALL...in any of the "before" recordings. (with headphones and without) This leads me to believe it's a high frequency hearing issue on my part.

The bad thing about this is I could have "clicks" on my own recordings and not even be aware of them.

Yep.

Definitely not cool.

It makes me think I need to do a "de-click" on everything now. I did notice that when the demo tutorial is showing "clicks only" that I WAS able to hear those at least.

In case you haven't heard. (no pun intended)
Getting older is not everything that they advertise in the brochure.

Jus' Sayin'.

If you're not sure if you can't hear clicks because you don't have them or because your hearing just can't detect them, try looking at your audio with spectral view. If you've got 'em, you'll see 'em.

So isotope is a... plugin? And it will work with various editing programs? I've been using Adobe audition, is that compatible?

Thanks!!

Funny thing about clicks, when one does an ISDN session you don't have any control over your clicks and I'm a bit amazed when I've heard them come through in finished recordings produced by someone else. I'm thinking not everyone hears them or cares about them like we do. Maybe we should be kinder on ourselves and only worry about the ones that sound like a Colt .45 being cocked.

So Bruce, If I hear you right, Don't over think it, cause nobody cares like we do.

Or, if you mess with it too much, you could screw the whole thing up.

Gracias

They're like zits. The ones you see in the mirror are huge, compared to the ones you see on other people's faces (if you notice them at all).
