Questions about audio gear and the software that runs it go in the GEAR forum.

You've been moved.

I don't insert silence, rather a 20db or 30db cut.

Step One:
1. Highlight area
2. Choose Effects > Amplitude and Compression > Amplify
3. Adjust gain to -20db
4. Click star to save as favorite and name 20db Cut

Step Two:
1. Choose Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts
2. Under Shortcuts > Favorites find 20db Cut
3. Assign a shortcut. I use the number 2.

Now, when you highlight the area and type 2, you'll get a 20db Cut.

Notes: I use 20db Cut for breaths when I want some of the breath to remain. To cut more, just hit 2 again.

I also have a 30db Cut shortcut to zap it with one touch.
