Here's a U87 in my booth about 10 minutes ago. I did nothing! It's so raw it is not fit for human consumption, it's as bad as it gets, worse when you add local taxes.

Thank you both for the examples. I'm picking one up today or tomorrow morning depending on schedules. Then will see if it plays friendly with my preamp.

Thanks Jack....the read was helped by the excellent job that the post people did on this one, but there's no question in my mind that the U87 captures detail and nuance in a superior fashion. |
