So I know the voices.com debate can get very heated, but has anyone else had the problem of having the vast majority of their auditions not even listened too? Am I the only one expecting this phenomenon? Not looking to rile things up, just wondering if it's even worth continuing my membership. _________________ http://neilkhessvo.com |

Rumor has it, if you aren't in the first 5 listened to then chances are it wont be. |

Neil, it looks like you haven't researched this topic on the VO-BB very far. If you had you would find these observations on Voices:
- You are not alone there. Audition notices can go out to hundreds of auditioners at a time. Dozens of them are waiting like vultures to send in auditions immediately. You have to sit by your computer every minute to have a chance.
- If you don't audition in the first 20 minutes (or less) your chance of being heard drops to 0% quickly.
- There are members of the service who pay thousands of dollars per year who get notice of auditions before any of the rank and file including you. Not fair? You bet it's not.
- Many of the buyers are impatient and do not wait for the "perfect" read. If the price is low and the voice OK, they'll choose someone right away, screwing everyone else who comes after.
It is a terrible, lop-sided game designed to give you hope and take your money. Sorry.
And as always I have to acknowledge there are a few people who know how to play the game and are excellent voice talents who do make a living at Voices. But they are as rare as hen's teeth. How rare is that? Ask any of the unemployed poultry dentists out there.

Never trust a company that forces you to use their own payment system for services. You don't ever know if the budget is even real from that site because they hack off a piece for themselves. Does that sound like legitimate business? Maybe in Canada.... |

Shane, what you just got from the two men above is spot on and worth every penny you've spent here. It's also worth any penny you've spent on your career. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

If you are as much a fool as I am and can't quite cut ties with the P2P sites, here's how I approach it: I don't audition for a job on voices.com if there are 30+ people that have submitted one already. And on V123, you can check the potential client's "listen" rates for previous jobs. If they tend to only listen to the first 5 or ten, I won't bother being number 11. But if they make a habit of listening to, say, all 100 out of 100 submitted, then I'm in even if I am number 99. _________________ Andrew Fogarasi
