I'm still in my temp booth, 6 houses away. I have to put on clothes AND talk to neighbors as I walk down there. Can't wait until I just have to pass through the sun porch and mud room and enter the barn again. Soon enough!
They are predicting a big storm here on Thursday. A whopping 8 inches here on the coast of Maine, at the worst. How quickly they have forgotten that in one short storm, 4 years ago, we got 32 inches. It was a wallop and so much fun. We had no roof on our (gutted) kitchen and had to clear out all 32 inches before the builders could finish tearing it down and building it up again. The children made snow angels about 24 inches above the kitchen floor.
I love the snow! I love the storms. I love the summer as well. And the Fall. And the Spring. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Complain away! We all have our things and I certainly don't want to "win" the crap contest!!!! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Okay I'll rant a bit....
.....we moved here in August, expecting to be in a house by mid-October at the latest.....long story short it has taken 5 MONTHS to get into a house (we close on our new residence Friday 12/30/16).....so for 5 MONTHS I have been recording auditions under a blanket in our 300 sq ft. extended stay hotel room......it will be AWESOME to get my home studio up and running again.....thank you....... |

Rob, you made me shudder, bringing back memories of our first two weeks in Portland several years ago. We stayed in an extended stay (america) type place, and while we've never lived in squalor in a third world country, we certainly experienced what that's like there. Things were a little tight back then so we had no choice. Florescent lighting, stains on the mattress and the floor that suggested a prior act of violence, a faint odor of.... no, I won't mention it. Anyway, glad you'll be in your own place soon.

I think most people here can feel my pain, given that we all work from home.
It's tough for anyone to live 5 months in an extended-stay hotel, but for VOs it's definitely a gut check. Thanks for the commiseration. |
