There's a big gig on voices.com, national spot paying $6k.

Here's my audition, I've been futzing with my studio, please let me know what you think!

Been having a little trouble getting this preamp to work right.

Thankyou!!!

Hi Ian,

First up... these have just come up via a couple of agents as well, so I have the scripts (as does nearly everyone else as well I think!) You need to pick up the pace... you are coming in at around 43 secs... the read sounds a bit labored, but will probably sound far better if you just relax and shoot for the 30 sec mark. You may well have the tone they are looking for... but the read will be so much better if you shoot for the time they want... at 43 secs and your slower read, you probably won't get a look in.

I've seen this as three sets of 30+15... Australia, Canada, & The UK... each paying $900 ($2,700 total)... I'd be interested in the Voices spec for $6K... also, is this a managed job? Just curious.

Hmm I took a pic of the info, can i put an attachment in here? Otherwise send me ur email and I can email you a screenshot of the gig.

Could it be that voices is less evil on v123 on this one??

Also thx for the tip!!

Im gonna try to take back my shure sm7b and get a neumann (i posted about it in gear) so if I can get that done in time I will resubmit with a much faster read!!

Take a nervous teenager who slipped through the net of education in the USA. He is learning to read, trying hard to put his life back on track.

"Cody, read to us"

He's terrified but wants to give it a go. He is allowed to read anything so picks a magazine ad for ......

Click above to hear how Cody does.

Not meant to be insulting, or obtuse. "Cody" reads extremely well but he lacks confidence, he does the Street Kid thing, if in doubt punch it. We're looking for ..Yo! Check out THIS action, I'M gonna be there, BE there too!

For the BEST direction on the planet so far today, that'll be $4.93

Hey Phil,

not totally sure I follow... I AM Cody, or I want to BE MORE like Cody?

Thanks!

Commercial break while I did my nails. Very Metro-sexual.

Ok, let's try this. You sound like you have no idea what you are saying, why you are saying it or to whom.

Pick 5 NBA fans (Havard NBAs?) and tell them something they don't know but will be delighted to hear. Make eye contact with them and give the read a bit of "oh yeah, I know a bunch of sh*t doods"

Now, where was I? Oh yes, hair and make-up.

I just received something from one of my agents (as I'm sure many have). They are aware of the disparity between the rates and are actively talking to the client to find out what's happening with this. The client will be talking to Voices to see if there's a miscommunication.

How many "man" hours will these people be allowed to waste? RIDICULOUS system!

Menawhile. Overnight I received the audition request for Briddish agzent version of this ad. Rate not enough. I was up early for a CNBC promo session and did it whilst hanging around as my critique may have planted seeds.

Here's what I sent. My off the shelf TV promo for sport read.

The rate is not enough at all! This is becoming one of those joke jobs where everyone just runs around like headless chickens (Quilted Northern anyone?) The client is using a scatter-shot technique (multiple agents and Voices.con) and pissing everyone off... then, to show their perfect professionalism, they change the spec two days after probably receiving a thousand (or at least hundreds) auditions!

Original job as a three different 30/15 ... six spots total.
Job posted via Voices.con - $6,000
Job posted via Voicebank agents - $2,700
Evidently, the Voices job is in perpetuity for all media (because that's what they do) and the agent ones are for one year.

New specs... they want three different voices for the three markets, so the job is split up and the most on the table is $900

I'm not sure what the latest Voices.con iteration will be (because I got out of that hell-hole some time ago), but personally, I think the agents have got to take a stronger line with these cavalier clients... you come to us, or to Voices.con... not both. You make your bloody mind up what you want before you post the job. Roughly... call everyone if you want, but do it the once, new-spec re-issues within hours are a pain in the arse for everyone and displays a distinct lack of respect for both the agents and the talents.

... pre-10am posting deficient in both caffeine and nicotine.
I'm not a morning person cool

Oh, and I will admit to recording the audition just to see if the 30 was realistic. It was. However, the 15 was woefully stuffed with words and I couldn't get it much under 20. I will not be posting it (or submitting it) because it was crap and Philip set the bar too high Smile
