ARRRRR! There's a cricket in my booth and I can't find it! It's driving me crazy!!! I have a project that has to be recorded before I can go to bed, and it keeps cricketing mid-spot!

In the UK we have Cricket bats for dealing with such annoyances. |

Another answer to your cricket problem... Stop by the local pet store and buy a Tarantula. Place the spider in the booth. Within 24 hours the Tarantula will take care of the cricket problem. Take the spider back to the pet shop for a full refund.

I don't mind bugs much-- but the idea of a tarantula in my studio CREEPS ME OUT. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

crickets weren't a problem for Buddy Holly....
and tarantulas? no way. vacuum hose with a crevice tool in the corners etc might be the ticket. |

Me too. Not because I find them scary or icky, but because the damn thing'll probably want a cut of the session fees.

In Mobile, we lived in an older house (1926 or so) that wasn't what you would call sealed. We shared the house with several lizards. Never had to spray for bugs, but sometimes it was weird taking a shower and seeing a lizard over your head. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I grew up in Hawaii and there were geckoes everywhere.
Thank goodness. We had the damnedest bugs. Some mighty moths in the mix.
It was rather funny to see a little lizard race across the wall only to discover the moth it saw was as big as IT was. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Wow is this thread close to home!
My studio is in the basement and at this time of year there are always crickets. No so bad if you can find them....but at times they can drive you nuts.
Actually had a producer freind notice one chirping in a file I had to send to the Boston station I work at...(was going to have lots of production round it so the chirp would be totally obscured)...it's been a running joke ever since. |

20 years in the military and 95% of it spent living overseas in various parts of the world, I've lived with some pretty diverse species of critter. The ones I always hated were the mutant red cockroaches the size of footballs (Hawaii and Okinawa). The geckos were pretty cool. I didn't mind them running accross the walls. One time a gecko and mutant roach were coming toward eachother along the seam where the wall and ceiling meet at a corner....the gecko turned the corner first...went about 2 feet and came face to face with the roach. they stood there and stared at eachother for about 5 minutes...about 1 inch apart from eachother....after about 5 minutes, the gecko said F@#!# this, and turned around and went back the way he came. That roach was as big as he was. hahahahaha...I currently have to deal with Brown Recluse spiders. Very dangerous if you get bit. worse than Black Widows. This past week, I was in my studio and glanced down at my bare feet and there was one 2 inches from my foot. That happened 2 days in a row. sheesh. YUCK! If I would have been recording at the time I saw it, I could have had some award winning sound effects for future use or sale! _________________ TG2
