If you're on a Mac then IMO the AAU and VST plug-ins aren't bad and seem to get the job done. And they're free. Laugh

I use the DC-1a compressor it's free...I only use compression on some auditions, and almost NEVER on the final track,...editors/producers always want your voice naked

Yes, I sometimes am asked to send audio naked but increasingly, some of my clients want finished, broadcast quality audio...pumped up with as much presence as possible....so I'm looking for a plugin/channel strip that will provide the best, compression/eq and whatever else possible for VO.

Have not used any plug-ins for quite a while now.

But, when I use plug-ins I like the Voxengo Elephant and Voxformer.

Sometimes I offer a client the option of both processed and unprocessed audio. Then I will use Auphonics, which is an online processing site.

https://auphonic.com/landing

The result is pretty good IMHO. Definitely worth checking out.

Plus 1 on the DC-1A. It's a simple interface and gets the job done. In a similar way I like Slick EQ.

I have a couple engineering/audio friends and we refer to 12 oclock, affectionately, as "The Sweet Spot". Kind of a long standing joke but it never gets old.

I like the Slick EQ and others from Tokyo Dawn, but the BuzComp Free GranComp3 is still my favorite free plugin for VO compression. You can really dial it in to be just right for effective subtle results. Much better than the multiband compressor that comes with Audition 3.

Yes, unfortunately it's just for PC. The Buzzroom company isn't around anymore. I think they supported Macs a few years ago.

For me, the iZotope RX5 Audio Editor set is invaluable for voiceover. The De-Click alone is worth the sale price of the entire batch. AND......if you do any work on the road, the Dialogue DeNoise is exceptional. I'm a less is more guy and transparent results in all applications is a must, these allow you the options to do just that. I use it every single day. I sometimes use the Waves Vocal Rider. The Wave Rider by QuietArt works way better for just voice (not no music bed), but for my workflow it does't fit because of the way it actually functions. Other than that, standard DAW plugins work well, but I've got an assortment of non-standard.

I only use what comes with Pro Tools or TwistedWave or Audition. Never needed anything else, unless you want a declicker tool for PT or TW like RX5 plugin pack (Audition has one). Voxengo's stuff is an amazing value.
