I posted this on Facebook yesterday.

https://vimeo.com/155927844

It's a job I did last month and I think it's my favorite piece of work. Bob Souer posted how much he liked it and that brought me back to 2007 - when I finally came out of hiding and registered on the VO-BB after lurking for years.

I'd been toiling away in my little home studio for years - while doing a cushy 3 1/2 hour daily news and traffic anchoring shift. I really didn't know how to move forward with my VO - and at times I thought about going back to my film and TV production roots - which is how I got into this whole thing in the first place. But, there was that getting up at 5 am thing.

I saw how so many of you were making a go of this full-time, or near full time - and that's what I wanted.

From the day I introduced myself here, Bob and Liz took me in hand. I can't begin to express how wonderful and how encouraging they were. As I got to know the others here, I found the same from them. DB had a damn nice family here - and finally I was lucky enough to have found mine.

Everything I've done and gained in the last years has been because of this place and the people here. I found the right people to work with, to determine what I was best at. I found the right people and places and ways to move ahead. And when worlds collided and my first career met my present, I was ready. And it was all because of here. And that early time for me here was so crucial. If this place hadn't have existed - if people like Deebs and Connie and Anthony and Kevin and Philip and Bob and Liz and so so many others hadn't have been here I don't know that I would have found my way.

So I just wanted to say, hey, thanks family. I love you guys.

xoxoxo

That was fab -- so raw, and present, and perfect.

Thanks for sharing, Melissa!

Isn't it awesome when an excellent production team and brilliant voiceover talent meet. THAT piece is a perfect example of exactly just what happens!

Congratulations Melissa... you knocked it out of the park!!!

And the script. It all stems from the writing. When you get a script that tells you exactly how it wants to be read.
I live for this stuff.

thanks guys Smile

What a great post, Melissa (and what a beautiful spot!)

It's funny that you mention how various people took you under their wing and made you feel welcome, because you did the very same to me last summer when I was having a few problems. Your friendliness and reassurance were part of what gave me the confidence to leave my 9-5 and go at this full time!

This is definitely a lovely community where people are keen and happy to pay it forward, and that is something for which I am eternally thankful!
