Hey Everybody,

yeah sounds a little dicey. I didn't read the entire e-mail but The broken English smacks of client 3,000 miles away who could be impossible to track down for payment if it came to that. I would tread carefully and if you decide to do it get 50% up front.

Did you submit an audition?

Hard to say. This message came from a proper name, not a company email. I have submitted a few auditions, so they may have picked up my contact information from an audition, but they didn't reference that.

I sent a reply, I'm waiting for "Great, send your full Name, Address, Phone and Western Union Account # to XXX"

Nothing more to wonder about.

This. Is. A. Scam.

This paragraph was copied and pasted from a FB thread where this exact type of "gig" was discussed. (Notice the similarities to what you received?)

It looks like voice over and production refrigerator poetry.

I'm going to ask them what kind of Residual Copy-Righting Mic Compression Stands I should bring to the Session Record and then follow up with some pictures of my dog cleaning himself.

to me
Hello Paul ,

I received your email indicating your interest. I wouldnt be able to send you the script because my client have "copyrighted" it and confidentiality is of utmost importance until we have agreed to terms on the job.The Job cannot be done in your personal studio as it needs directing by a voice coach as well as it must be mastered by our consultant engineer.

As part of my working policy and ethics, I receive part payment for voice talents from my client before I proceed with any job and balance you immediately after the job, this is to identify seriousness. So I will get in touch with our client and part payment will be mailed to you, until you receive and confirm payment before the show will hold. Your total pay for the job is going to be $850 as discussed. Part payment of $400 will be mailed to you first and you get the balance on the day of the recording. I hope you understand.

Do Send me your payment details for issuing a check as to which our client is to mail out your part payment to you, the details required is as follows :

Full name:Complete Mailing address (No P.O Box):
Phone numbers (Cell and Home):

Get in touch with your required details as soon as you can. The date of the Recording shall be communicated to you once part payment which should serve as transportation and mobilization is sent across.

I know it's a scam, but I don't see the obvious part of it...? They want a mailing address and phone number -- how can they make money off of just that?

Unless they will then tell you the check won't arrive soon enough, so they need your bank info...

I'd use this one...

2001 Dulaney Valley Rd,
Lutherville Timonium, MD 21093

That way, when they try to come and collect the over payment of the check they send you, they can deal with Leo.

They sure were blasting away with that one... I got the exact same invite too. I lost interest after "kindly", "regards" and "either professional or non professional".

It's a shame... I saw a direct contact on that site and got a little excited for a moment. Oh well...

The "Rented studio" that is "close to your location" is a dead giveaway.

They don't even know where you are yet, do they?
All y'all?

I do wonder how they stand to gain from this vast casting of a net.

Scammers are mighty active of late, aren't they? I got contacted by one not long ago at V123 asking me to get in touch with their "project manager" via Skype. The Skype account was a fake, of course, and it was obvious that the whole thing was some sort of scam right out of the gate. I hope that you guys also contacted the P2P immediately so they could shut down the client account on their site before some more gullible souls could get roped in.
