It's ok - you speak Maine. I always wanted to learn Maine - but the closest I got was Barre, Vermont - "Granite and Maple Syrup"

See?

Anthony,
Trust me, me by! That's a classic Newfie accent, I do know an authentic Newfie accent, even though I'm a land-locked prairie boy! lol

Thank-you for posting this - I've listened to it about a bazillion times already.

Fascinating. As well as hilarious.

So I watch the thing, gaining new respect for all the Newfie jokes out there, and then YouTube offers me the chance to play it again or to watch a video called "Most Amazing Pole Dance". What is this world coming to?

Shocked it tell you. Shocked.

Like with Texan, I'm working on not assimilating up here. The first step to speaking Mainer is to say "Yep" every time a person who is talking to you comes to the end of a sentence. Kind of like that old Victor Borge routine where he made up a sound for every punctuation mark, only instead of different sounds, you just say "Yep" or "Yup" if you want to change it up a little...

It's not really "Massachusetts lite", either. Some people go for the wicked pissah routine, but I don't think that's as prevalent in Maine.

Gene mentioned Texan.
With regard to the demenor, speed , and speech ( or lack there of ) of the lead actor; as they would say here in Texas AND most of the South as to what he said-
" DUUU WAAAATTT ???????"

Here in Michigan, the regional dialect similar to Mainer and Newfie is "Yooper".
