An eLearning entity in India which shall go unnamed (Cosmic Global Ltd.) last year offered the generous sum of $80 for 15 minutes of finished audio, and required the vendor to make themselves available to the client for discussion either mid-way through or at the completion of the project.
I responded with my usual rate for such a project and then never received a reply.
Today, another email from them and – this time – for what will allegedly be "batches" of scripts over the course of a year, containing anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes of material in each batch, the offered rate is suddenly $120 PER MINUTE.
I am dating myself by thinking of him as (someone our non-American friends may not be familiar with) the "Joe Isuzu" of eLearning, and trying to decide whether to simply ignore him or spend time trying to come up with something clever to respond with. _________________ Mike

If it's not for you, move on.
Methinks you've already wasted too much time on him. _________________ Don Brookshire

I've had a number of requests from them over the past few years (the text of their emails don't even address me by name) and, after I respond, they don't. So I decided long ago they were a waste of time. But, in this case, I had fun auditioning Joe Isuzu spots to select just the right one to go with their latest solicitation (from which I'm sure they're leaving something out). _________________ Mike

$7,200 for an hour of narration? Go for it man. You'll be rich! Rich I tell you!

You sure they're in India, not Nigeria? That seems like quite a princely sum. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Maybe it's in Namibian Dollars? Although, at the current exchange rate of $.08 US, it still translates to $576/hr. _________________ John LaPiana

I hear from them from time-to-time. I got the same email.
I wrote back:
"Dear Cosmo:
Really, $120 USD for one finished, edited minute of eLearning narration? If so, I'm in!"
I got a reply sometime overnight apologizing for the rate. It was a typo. The rate is $120 per finished hour.
