Comedian Norm Crosby's act was purposely mangling American English for laughs. Eva Gabor, in her role as Lisa Douglas on the 60s sitcom "Green Acres" used her thick Hungarian accent as a means of getting away with occasionally using the wrong words. And now we have journalists to carry on this fine tradition.

This evening, in describing the action following an unfortunately fatal car-train crash which erupted in flames, one reporter for a New York City TV network flagship wrote (in a tweet) that fire personnel were working to "relinquish" the fire.

Try the veal.

That's not a journalist, that's a ham.

And that's not veal...

It's a rump roast. Gasp

Was thinking the same thing, Greg. He probably sent it by phone and auto-correct did its magic. Whenever I try to text "bullshit" it comes out as "buckshot". People who know me well understand when I send buckshot.

I'm hoping it was something like that, too... but would auto-correct change a valid and quite common word like "extinguish?"

If the person made a typo and didn't catch it before sending. It has happened to me particularly on my old phone.
